From Jacinto City, Texas
Renee King was born to entertain and audiences everywhere feed her drive and passion to keep coming back! Influenced by Elvis Presley, Tanya Tucker, Ann Wilson (Heart), Emmy Lou Harris & Loretta Lynn, she delivers an astounding presentation as soon as she hits the stage!
King toured across the country with a dynamic Country & Western show band, Renee King & Wildcard. While on the road, she graced the stages of the likes of Tanya Tucker, Mark Chestnutt, K.T. Oslin and Diamond Rio. One of her earliest memories was getting up to sing with Ernest Tubb and Kitty Wells in Jacinto City, Texas at a local Fireman’s Ball – she was 16 years old!
Her extensive background includes numerous television and radio commercials, TV specials, movie productions, promotions, public speaking, and musical theatre. (She was Gypsy Rose Lee in the musical “Gypsy” at the Center for the Arts & Sciences in Lake Jackson, Texas.)
Though Renee’s deep passion lies in the area of music performance and songwriting, she is equally gifted at promoting talent she believes in and thrives on producing special events for such occasions where she can showcase rising stars—Renee King & The Honky Tonk Queens scheduled for March 24, 2012 at the Lonestar Club in Pasadena, TX could become a household name. The engine is growing and sponsor support is coming in.
Some will remember the school, Renee King’s School of Performing Stars which was located in the Galleria area. Her students opened up for Trisha Yearwood, Doug Stone & Tracy Lawrence at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1994.
Currently, King is writing new material and re-writing her 200+ catalogue of original material with plans to record an original project by the end of 2012. She credits her husband, Tommy Sonnen as her rock! Because of his love and support of her music, she can do what she’s always wanted to do—fly!
